We all know Danny Ainge has been running the show with the Utah Jazz over the last few years ever since the Celtics wrongly kicked him to the curb. Now his son, Austin Ainge, will join him and will get to run the entire show in Salt Lake City.
The team announced the news via a press release on the website:
“This is an incredible opportunity to lead Utah Jazz basketball operations,” Austin Ainge said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more excited about the bright future of this organization. I look forward to partnering with Ryan and Ashley Smith and our other leaders within the Utah Jazz and will utilize my experience over the last 17 years building a championship-caliber organization. I have lived this my whole life, constantly studying teams, talent, chemistry and the selflessness necessary to win. I look forward to bringing that to Utah and am excited to give Jazz fans a lot to cheer about as we build our program back up.”
The Jazz are coming off a 17-65 season and hold the 5th overall pick heading into the 2025 NBA Draft. The new Ainge will have his work cut out for him trying to rebuild this team.
However, let me leave you with this. Are we sure something didn’t happen with the Celtics to spark this new gig? Are we sure a disagreement didn’t happen with Brad Stevens, or was this genuinely just a better opportunity? I’d love to have those answers. Either way, good luck to new Ainge. This puppy is going to take some time, even if he does make smart moves.
