Arizona Cardinals will have new uniforms in 2023
After a long wait, the Arizona Cardinals have finally announced they will be getting new uniforms for their upcoming 2023-24 season, per Pro Football Talk.
The last time the Cardinals updated their uniforms was in 2005. They introduced a more modern look to their previous jersey to fit into the rest of the league’s advancement in uniforms.
Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill made comments on his team’s upcoming uniform update.
“We look at all these things. You probably know, these things, there’s a timeline for them. It takes time,” Bidwill said, via Pro Football Talk. “Among the array of things we look at around the team, it’s on the radar. We’re going to honor tradition at the same time. It’s part of the array of things we look at. It’s on the radar screen.”
The Cardinals organization joined the NFL as a charter team back in 1920. They were previously established in Chicago as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898. Later in 1937, the Cardinals dawned their covenant red and white colorway, which continues to hold up until the present day.
Many legendary NFL players dawned the Cardinals red and white colorway over the years. Some players include Larry Fitzgerald, Kurt Warner, Carson Palmer and recently retired J. J. Watt.
Although the Cardinals have struggled in the past few years, they found success when they updated their uniforms around 2005. In the 2009 season, the Cardinals marched all the way to Super Bowl XLIII to face the Pittsburgh Steelers. But, with 42 seconds left on the clock, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw a six-yard pass to Santonio Holmes for a toe-tap-touchdown to defeat the Cardinals.
With the NFL Draft looming closer and closer by the day, the Cardinals uniform update will be getting all eyes on the team, along with the third overall pick in the draft.
