Cardinals trade Josh Dobbs to Vikings

The Arizona Cardinals have traded Josh Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings, NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero first reported ahead of the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline Tuesday.

Though according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the deal includes a late-round pick-swap: Arizona is sending a conditional 2024 7th-round pick (that could move to a 6th-round pick) for a 2024 6th-round pick.

Dobbs started all eight games with the Cardinals this season due to Kyler Murray’s injury. He completed 62.8 percent of his attempts for 1,569 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions.

Dobbs isn’t perfect, but this transaction comes in place of Kirk Cousins’ season-ending Achilles tear Sunday, which occurred late in the second half of their 24-10 win over division rival Green Bay Packers. Since they’re really only moving back maybe 10-15 drafts lots in Day 3, it’s a low-risk move for Minnesota, who are in need of quarterback help as they approach the wide-open No. 7 seed in the NFC at 4-4.
