Free Kyle Pitts.
That would be nice, wouldn’t it?
It all started with Arthur Smith, who was obsessed with using Pitts as a decoy.
Then we have Zac Robinson who figured out Drake London doesn’t suck if you use him in the slot, which left Pitts without a real role considering that he isn’t an in-line tight end. With Robinson back this year, I’m not sure that will change.
It sure feels like the Falcons have come to the realization that they really botched the 4th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported that teams have reached out to Atlanta about a possible trade. Bleacher Report’s James Palmer added that the former Florida product is available as the Falcons are hopeful to get a possible day two pick back in return.
Pitts, 24, is in the final year of his rookie contract where he will operate under the 5th-year option. It sure seems like if someone comes calling with an offer that resembles what Dallas gave up for George Pickens, a deal can be reached. Pitts notched 1,026 receiving yards as a rookie and hasn’t come close to that number since.
When it comes to fantasy football, landing spot obviously means everything, but I have a hard time imagining his stock decreases. A fresh start for all parties involved sure seems like the best path forward. Now it’s about actually finding a real trade partner. Not a guarantee, but it sure doesn’t feel like Pitts is a lock to suit up for the Falcons heading into the 2025-26 NFL Season.
