Antoine Winfield Jr. thinks Tom Brady will return to the Buccaneers

Tom Brady announced he was retiring from football on Feb. 1, 2022. However, he was back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just 40 days later and played the entire season as their starting quarterback.

Fast forward one year and on Feb. 1, 2023, Brady retired for the second time, but stated that he is officially done, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Kudos to him because he has remained retired for the time being — unless he spurns retirement once more.

That’s what Bucs safety Antoine Winfield Jr. believes will happen in 2023. Winfield thinks the team is trying to coax Brady into returning for another year. For more NFL News about Tom Brady or any other player, click here!

I’m sure we’re still reaching out to him trying to see if he’s trying to come back to the team,” Winfield said on Richard Sherman’s podcast, via The Volume. “Hey, it could happen. Anything’s possible.”

Sherman stated that he wouldn’t put anything past Brady at this point. “It’s a crazy world, and he’s a crazy guy,” Sherman added.

The Buccaneers not only lost Brady, but also some key players in free agency. Leonard Fournette, Cameron Brate, Shaq Mason and Mike Edwards are just a few players who departed Tampa Bay in 2023.

Baker Mayfield landed the starting role for the 2023 season, but throughout his career he’s been an average quarterback at best. Ultimately, there’s no reason for the Bucs to not want Brady back. The team is already carrying more than $35 million in dead cap money for him, regardless of if he suits up or not.

Brady has shown that he can still play at an elite level in his mid-40s. Over the past two seasons, Brady threw for a combined 10,010 yards and 68 touchdowns. However, I don’t think Brady will even be considering coming out of retirement anytime soon.

Sorry, Bucs fans.
