For those who know me, know I hate the Yankees. I guess that’s part of being a Red Sox fan but whatever. One of if not the biggest reasons why I hate them is their stupid hair policy. I think there is a lot of problems with their policy and I’m sure many players agree. Recently, Andrew McCutchen spoke out about just how wrong it is.
Andrew McCutchen thinks the Yankees should cut their hair policy.
“I definitely do think it takes away from our individualism as players and as people,” McCutchen told Jensen Karp on “The Sports Bubble” podcast. “We express ourselves in different ways. I feel like maybe there should be some change there in the future — who knows when — but it’s just one of the many things in this game that I feel that there just needs … it needs to be talked about, and to be addressed.”
“Because that was who I was,” he said. “That was how I expressed myself. That’s who made me Andrew McCutchen. That’s how people noticed who I was, it made me unique. I think, especially in this year, the year of 2020, I just feel like these things are, or should be, things that people should take at heart and realize that we have a way of expressing ourselves in different ways.”
McCutchen only spent about 2 months with the Yankees after being traded by the Giants during the middle of the 2018 season. Cutch immediately had to cut his beautiful dreads and cut the beard that he sported for 9 years in the majors. The hair policy has been in place since 1973 and McCutchen said the obvious. It needs to go.
Nothing is worse than the Yankees who are yacht owners rocking clean shaven smug faces. Aren’t they just the worst? Little did they know, McCutchen’s dreads had magical powers. Probably one of the many reasons why they lost in 2018. Sorry, not sorry.
