Sports Media
The man who breaks more stories on sports media personalities than anybody is changing networks. The only problem is his articles are now locked behind a paywall while being represented by a trash media network that continues to bleed money. Andrew Marchand is leaving the New York Post for The Athletic.
Marchand broke his own news on the departure from the NY Post.
Marchand, a sports media writer from Ithaca College, spent the last six years at the NY Post. Before that, Marchand wrote for the ESPN New York section. It’s hard to believe that he was ESPN’s primary Yankees writer once upon a time based on what he writes now.
Ryan Glasspiegel will likely take over Marchand’s role as the sports media writer. Marchand will now join Richard Deitsch in that realm with The Athletic. Maybe that means those two will start a podcast together for their trashbag network.
“As for my podcasting future, that is TBD,”
With John Ourand leaving Sports Business Journal, it would appear that podcast is on shaky ground. Expect Marchand to get together with Deitsch on some sort of project.
You know my thoughts on this stuff by now. Anybody who works for that place has zero self-pride. Nobody is going to sign up for an Athletic subscription that didn’t have one already because Marchand is going there. All people want to know is the breaking news on where personalities are going. The idea that people are going to pay for that information beyond social media is a silly concept for many different reasons.
