Andrew Friedman Has Tiny Balls

Baseball is a very complex game and a simple game at the same time. You can look at it either way. Advanced analytics and data has taken the game to a new level. However, it’s still America’s past time for a reason. See ball, hit ball. See glove, hit glove. It’s simple and complex at the same time. Certain rules in this game have always applied from a team building standpoint. When you have the opportunity to sell when your team is a pretender, you ALWAYS sell. When you have the opportunity win the World Series, you ALWAYS go for it. Shame on you if you don’t go for it. Nothing epitomizes that latter statement more than Andrew Friedman. The Dodgers president of baseball operations has tiny balls. Andrew Friedman is a stone cold pussy.

The Dodgers have been a good team for a long time. LA has won the NL West every single year since 2013. Friedman took over the Dodgers in 2014 after leaving Tampa Bay. Friedman has built a nice young core. Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, and Walker Buehler just to name a few. However, the story with the Dodgers has been the same every single year. They have the pieces to get into the dance, they’re never aggressive enough to win the dance. That starts and ends with Andrew Friedman.

I’m going to list all of the notable trades Friedman has made with a win now ready contender.

2014: Friedman didn’t do a whole lot in his first year with the team. I should rephrase that. He sculpted the team in the upcoming offseason heavy. Acquiring players like Howie Kendrick, Yasmani Grandal, and a washed up Jimmy Rollins. More so tinkering around the roster trades. During the actual season, Friedman made one trade. He acquired Darwin Barney for cash considerations. Yeah, snoozefest. Let’s keep it moving.

2015: Once again, Friedman had a team that won the division. Once again, Friedman pussy footed around. Never going for the knockout punch. Friedman was still focused on building the core. Which is fine until you realize that this trend has been happening his entire tenure. During the season, the Dodgers traded for washed up Chase Utley. At the deadline, the Dodgers made a multi player trade but it was focused more on clearing Hector Olivera’s contract. No trade to actually try to win a title. Even in the offseason after the season, they were in a 3-team deal that involved Todd Frazier. They ended up swapping prospects in the deal in a nonsense trade.

2016: Enter 2016. Once again, the Dodgers won the division. Friedman never made a trade in the entire month of July. He got into the dance. He wasn’t aggressive enough to win the dance. ZERO trades in the month of July. He did make some moves in August. One decent, one bad. Friedman acquired Josh Reddick and Rich Hill. Both players who were rentals so he didn’t have to really pay full price. Friedman also traded for a scrub reliever, Josh Fields, and gave up, wait for it, Yordan Alvarez. WHAT AN IDIOT!!!

2017: Now Friedman decided he actually wants to try to win. The only problem is he remained passive and completely lost his mind. Friedman made the move for Yu Darvish. A pitcher who was a rental and had a track record as a total choke artist in the playoffs. Predictably, Darvish cost them the World Series and left via free agency. It was also a trade that the Dodgers didn’t give up any prospect of value to get the deal done because of his rental status. Hey, we do have a trend building though. Once again, Friedman made another weird salary swap in the offseason. The infamous Adrian Gonzalez for Matt Kemp in a deal that did nothing but move money around.

2018: Friedman was starting to get more aggressive. He made the move for Manny Machado. It followed a similar formula to the Darvish deal. Value type of deal because of rental status. Machado was going to hit free agency so the Dodgers didn’t part with any stars. The Machado deal was also a bad idea from the start. He’s a total scumbag and sent bad energy throughout the clubhouse. Everyone with a brain saw that coming. Don’t worry, they also made some moves for some washed up veterans. Brian Dozier, Ryan Madson, and David Freese. What a scam.

2019: The Dodgers are fresh off a first round loss to the Nats. Certainly, Friedman pulled the trigger on a big move to put them over the top! Nope! In the offseason, Friedman dumped Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, and Alex Wood to the Reds to pick up more prospects and clear salary. The Dodgers made two trades at the deadline. One for Jedd Gyorko. Gyorko had 0 atbats in the postseason and is, you guessed it, an impending free agent. The other trade? Adam Kolarek. Who? Yeah, exactly.

It’s been 6 years of Andrew Friedman in Dodger land. We have a track record. Moving big salaries around, trading for washed up vets, and acquiring players on expiring contracts so they never have to part with any relevant prospects. The teams that have won the World Series watched their executives put their balls on the table to win the World Series.

I’d like to take credit for calling this but I can’t. It’s not a hard concept to figure out. If you’re in need of a good laugh, click on the tweet and read the comments. When you have the opportunity to win the World Series and don’t do everything you can to win it, shame on you. The Red Sox won the World Series last year for one reason. AGGRESSIVENESS! Andrew Friedman is a risk adverse pussy with tiny balls. The Dodgers had a clear and obvious hole in their bullpen. So much so that they went to choke artist Clayton Kershaw in the 8th inning with a two run lead. Then they went to roller coaster Joe Kelly in extra innings in one of the most insane moves of all-time.

The Dodgers have all these fancy analytics that tells them not to trade prospects and when to use players. All I see is them looking stupid and coming up short year after year. The Dodgers haven’t won a World Series for one reason. Andrew Friedman has tiny balls. When it’s time for him to make the trade to put his team over the top. He NEVER does. Friedman has a great reputation around the game. His reputation should be that he is a giant pussy that is too chicken shit to make the big deal.
