Andre Iguodala Doesn’t Think He’s A Hall Of Famer
Do you think Andre Iguodala belongs in the Hall of Fame for basketball? If you ask Iguodala, he says he doesn’t deserve to be in. Iguodala has won a lot at the NBA level but doesn’t think he’s done enough to get the call for the Hall.
VIA JJ Reddick’s “The Old Man and The Three” podcast:
“I’m not a ‘ring culture’ guy, but I’ve benefitted from that,” Iguodala said. “I know I have a lot of flaws. And I think there should be tiers of the Hall of Fame. I’m not a Hall of Famer. … Those guys had no flaws.
“And I think I was good, but like Kobe (Bryant), like LeBron (James)? I can’t do that. And a lot of us can’t do that. They have to be in their own different world. And then (Michael Jordan) should be in his different world, that’s how good MJ was.”
I’ll play devil’s advocate for argument’s sake here. Iguodala won four titles. All of which came with the Golden State Warriors. Iguodala may not have deserved this (Steph Curry did) but he did win Finals MVP in 2015.
They have let a lot of bums in the Hall of Fame. Drazen Petrovic is in the Hall of Fame. Ditto for Calvin Murphy, Bill Bradley, and Dave Bing. I’d argue that Iggy has a better resume than those guys. Plus, we know the day that let that P.O.S. Russell Westbrook in the Hall, they may as well torch the entire building to the ground. We all know that day is coming and it will be a travesty to the sport.
