Amari Cooper was off to the best start of his career in his third season with the Dallas Cowboys. The four-time Pro Bowler was on his way to being a top-five receiver. Before the injury of quarterback Dak Prescott, Cooper was averaging 13 targets through the first 4 weeks. In those four games, Amari Cooper was averaging nine catches for 100 yards. In PPR leagues, that by its self is 19 points a week without touchdowns. If he were to keep up that pace, he would have had ungodly numbers. Receptions being 148 with 1,604 yards becoming the 2nd best receiver in fantasy behind Davante Adams. Unfortunately, with the injury to Dak Prescott in Week 5, Cooper’s numbers would drop tremendously. Still, with Andy Dalton at the Helm, Amari would post 92 receptions for 1,114 yards. He would finish the year with 144.8 fantasy points.
With the return of Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper will be a fantasy stud in 2021. Since trading for Cooper in 2018 from the Raiders, Cooper has been Prescott’s favorite target. With the emergence of CeeDee Lamb and underrated receiver Michael Gallup, fantasy owners are worried about Cooper’s production in 2021. He is projected to go in the 4th round and maybe early 5th in standard 12 team leagues. Running backs are so valuable in fantasy, so I always try to get two number one backs with those picks. In the third round, picking guys like Justin Jefferson or DK Metcalf to solidly your receiving core. Even a guy like Darren Waller in the third round who is the Raiders’ number 1 “receiver” at the TE position. Tight ends are extremely limited in fantasy as always. To get the chance to draft a number one wide-out in the fourth round is a no-brainer. I believe Amari Cooper has a chance to be the top fantasy receiver in 2021. Being the steal of the draft that could lead your team to a fantasy championship.
