There have been talks for months now that New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara would be facing possible suspension from the NFL stemming from his 2022 Las Vegas nightclub incident. Well, news just broke that Kamara will be suspended for three games of the 2023 season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to report Friday.
Kamara reached a plea agreement this past July from a fight that occurred in a Las Vegas nightclub during the Pro Bowl in 2022.
The New Orleans Saints star back will miss the first three games against the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers. The news breaking today has been months in the making, as we have been waiting really since his plea agreement in July to see if Alvin Kamara would be facing suspension, and how long it would be.
The Saints will now look to lean on recently signed Jamaal Williams and drafted Kendre Miller to replace Kamara in the lineup. Williams was a major red zone threat last season with the Lions, and Miller was the Saints’ third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The New Orleans Saints will be looking to win the NFC South for the first time since 2020. They have upgraded the quarterback position by signing Derek Carr to lead the offense and have nice pieces on both sides of the ball. With the NFC South being quite down in 2023, the division is really up for grabs among the four teams. Who comes out on top is anyone’s guess, but it makes you wonder how the suspension of Alvin Kamara will play into things.
