Arsenal Winger Alexis Sanchez is nearing an exit from the team after months of speculation of a transfer. The move became clear after not appearing in the Gunners 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth Sunday Night. Manager Arsene Wenger indicated a move will be “decided in the next 48 hours”. Multiple sources including the Mirror have ireported Alexis will be joining Manchester United by Monday.
Sanchez will become a free agent this summer. The January transfer window is the last opportunity for Arsenal to receive money for a swap. The Chilean’s departure from Arsenal comes after a shocking defeat to 2nd League Nottingham Forest last week. Wenger has stated that it was a team decision to sit Sanchez for the match. “He could have moved today or yesterday or not, but it will be decided in the next 48 hours. He is on standby so I decided not to bring him today. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to play.”
A deal for a replacement will have to happen in order for Sanchez to leave. Manchester United Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a favorite to head to Arsenal in the swap. Another favorite to head to London is Brazilian Forward Malcolm, he is weighing offers from several Premier League Teams. Alexis’ departure opens a huge whole on the left side of the field. As a result Arsenal needs a replacement with speed and ability to get up and down the field.

Alexis appeared in 19 games this season, leading Arsenal with 8 goals. He has been the backbone for Arsenal the last four seasons at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal purchased Sanchez’ rights from Barcelona in 2014. The Chilean winger should fit in well with Man U. paired up with Anthony Martial and Romalu Lukalu up front.
