Alexa Grasso, Valentina Shevchenko Set To Coach The Ultimate Fighter

UFC women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso is set to coach The Ultimate Fighter Season 32 against Valentina Shevchenko. UFC CEO Dana White announced the news on social media.

Grasso and Shevchenko have competed against each other twice. In their first bout, Grasso ended Shevchenko’s lengthy title reign after landing a rear naked choke in the fourth round to upset the champion. In their second bout, the pair fought to a draw.

The trilogy bout between Grasso and Shevchenko appears to be in the future. The fact that their rematch ended in a draw made a trilogy bout a necessity. The Ultimate Fighter should help build anticipation for that bout.

Typically, the coaches on The Ultimate Fighter fight at the end of the season. That has yet to come to fruition for the coaches of The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 as Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler have yet to fight. Still, Grasso and Shevchenko were due to fight before this announcement. It should be expected that they fight at the conclusion of the show.

The exact date for the Grasso and Shevchenko trilogy has not been announced; however, UFC 306 is the most likely date. The event will take place at the Las Vegas Sphere and will serve as the UFC’s Mexican Independence Day event. Grasso, the only Mexican UFC champion, will likely be on the card.

The Ultimate Fighter Season 32 will premiere on June 4. The show will air on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+.

It was previously reported that featherweight and middleweight will be the weight class of the contestants. That combination should make for a good season. The featherweight division is one of the deepest weight classes in MMA. That should help the promotion bring quality fighters into the TUF house. Meanwhile, the UFC could use additional depth and middleweight.
