Alec Ingold Wants The Dolphins To Sign Dalvin Cook
The Dolphins are one of the few teams that still use a fullback but thanks to Mike McDaniel being a disciple of the Shanahan offense, Alec Ingold is happily employed in Miami. We’ve also seen how creative these offenses use the fullback position such as Kyle Juszczyk in San Francisco. In terms of Ingold, he wants as many good running backs in Miami as possible. He is publically announcing that he wants Dalvin Cook to join the Dolphins.
“Man, we’ve got a plethora of backs right now,” fullback Alec Ingold said in an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Especially with our [third]-round pick Devon [Achane], Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Myles Gaskin, Savon Ahmed — we’ve got some dogs here. So having Dalvin Cook in the mix, that competition breeds excellence , man. You want as [many] good, quality backs as you can possibly have — especially in our offense when guys can really make something happen with it.
“You can touch it a million different ways. You’ve got out of the backfield, you’ve got in the backfield, outside zone, inside zone, we’re going to run some routes. So, it’s, man — more backs. Give me all the backs. Can we have 15 running backs in the training camp room? I would love it.”
Does Cook make sense for the Dolphins? I think the answer to that has to be a resounding yes. Mostert and Wilson are never healthy and were last year. Cook has his own injury struggles but this is a total game changer. Someone that should be motivated after being waived by Minnesota and having the opportunity to actually win something for the first time in his career by returning home to the no-state tax Dolphins? It just makes too much sense.
