Alabama DT Jehiem Oatis Transfers To Colorado

Colorado is going to be losing a TON of talent off this roster that wildly exceeded expectations in 2024. The Buffaloes finished the year 9-3 (7-2 in conference) on the heels of Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The Buffaloes are expected to lose somewhere in the range of 20 players to the portal and the NFL Draft, but Coach Prime got good news today, as ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports they have landed arguably the top interior defensive lineman in Alabama’s Jehiem Oatis.

Jehiem Oatis will bring a ton of top-level experience to this defense unit that was very up and down in 2024. Oatis started 13 games during his two years at Alabama and was a former top-40 recruit coming out of high school. Oatis saw the majority of his snaps under Nick Saban, but new Head Coach Kalen DeBoer would use him less, likely leading to his decision to enter the transfer portal. During his two seasons with the Crimson Tide, he would total 57 total tackles, five passes knocked down, and 1.5 sacks.

Say what you will about Coach Prime and the Colorado program, but they find ways to bring guys to Boulder. Colorado made headlines by landing the commitment of Julian Lewis to take over the reins as Shedur Sanders enters the NFL Draft. While some might be expecting Colorado to take a slight step back in 2025, they appear to be re-tooling to make another jump to potentially make the conference championship game and a run at the College Football Playoff. Securing the transfer of Jehiem Oatis certainly helps their cause.
