AEW Rampage is the last stop before the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. They always fit so much into these one-hour shows, so this one should be a good one. AEW Rampage airs tonight at 10:00pm on TNT and Countdown to Forbidden Door airs right after as well.
Andrade and Rey are no strangers to each other. The two look to face off for the first time since Andrade eliminated Rey from the battle royale with the winner facing off with John Moxley and a shot at becoming the interim AEW World Champion.
Andrade and Rey have history dating back to when the former first arrived in AEW. Fenix is coming off of a loss at Double or Nothing and his brother, Penta Oscuro, just lost an All-Atlantic qualifying match to Malakai Black. Rey is trying to get revenge and get himself, and Penta, back on the right track. A win here for Rey would be a good momentum shift, but a loss could really send him spiraling. As of writing this, neither of these men are on the card for Forbidden Door, so I would expect them to give it their all tonight.
We are going to get a taste of Forbidden Door with this match. Cash and Cobb are going to meet each at Forbidden Door in a triple threat tag-team match for the ROH and NJPW Tag-Team Championships. I predict this one is going to be hard-hitting, yet surprisingly athletic. These are two men who can do things that they shouldn’t be able to do at their size. I think Cash Wheeler is one of the most underrated wrestlers in AEW. A lot of people are going to learn about Jeff Cobb and NJPW with this match. It was smart to book one of the IWGP Tag-Team Champions because there is probably a big audience who haven’t seen them wrestle.
HOOK returns to the ring to face The DKC. The DKC is apart of the New Japan Pro Wrestling LA Dojo where he is one of the top prospects. It’s the New Japan LA Dojo’s best prospect versus the best prospect in AEW. HOOK is currently 9-0 in his young AEW career. Beating someone in the New Japan LA Dojo could be a great win for him. The DKC is going to be on the Buy-In pre-show for Forbidden Door. This is going to give everyone a glimpse of what to expect for that match. This is a first-time ever match and I think these young men are going to impress a lot of people.
Martinez and Deeb have been tag-teaming as of late. They have won three straight matches and look to make it four tonight. Mercedes Martinez is the current ROH Women’s World Champion and Deeb seems to be eyeing the title. Hopefully this will lead to a future title shot for Deeb. She’s one of the best wrestler’s in AEW and deserves a good push. Luck and Sierra have wrestled in ROH before. They’re familiar with each other because of their history, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they pair together. This is the first time Luck and Sierra will tag together and Martinez and Deeb, as a team, could be coming to an end.
