AEW Dynamite was a pretty good show. There was tons of action, plus a surprise appearance from MJF. We also heard from a newly formed faction and had two major matches. Moxley and Guevara faced off in the semifinals along with Chris Jericho taking on Bryan Danielson. The tag titles were on the line as a late addition to the card as well. With another good Dynamite in the books, here are the results along with key moments from the show.
Jon Moxley def. Sammy Guevara
Jungle Boy def. Jay Lethal
Powerhouse Hobbs def. Matt DiMartino
Swerve in our Glory def. Lucha Bros
Serena Deeb & Britt Baker def. Athena & Toni Storm (c)
Bryan Danielson def. Jon Moxley
Jon Moxley was facing Sammy Guevara in the semifinals of the Tournament of Champions, which is going to crown a new AEW world champion. Moxley and Guevara were going back and forth for the entire match, with each wrestler trying to gain the upper hand. Guevara went to the well one too many times and tried to hit his finishing move, GTH. But Jon Moxley had it scouted and reversed it into a death rider, ultimately giving him the win as he advanced to the finals of the Tournament of Champions.
The Acclaimed interrupted Swerve in our Glory’s celebration after retaining the tag team titles. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens came out and had some harsh words for Swerve in our Glory. The Acclaimed and Swerve in our Glory are set to meet in the ring on next week’s episode of Dynamite. Swerve in our Glory got the best of the Acclaimed the last time these teams met. The tag team titles will be on the line as the Acclaimed look to win their first gold in AEW.
Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson faced off in the semifinal match of the Tournament of Champions. This was a slugfest with the best men leaving it all in the ring. The winner of this match goes on to face Moxley in the finals of the tournament to crown a new AEW world champion. While Danielson was in control early, Jericho gained control as the match went on. In the final moments of the match, Jericho put Danielson in a figure four leg lock. Ultimately, this was a catastrophic mistake from Jericho as Danielson, who suffered a foot injury late, reversed it into his signature submission. Danielson picked up the win and moves on to face his team member, Moxley, in the final match of the tournament.
