AEW Collision officially has a location for its debut show. Originally, after early reports suggested CM Punk was set to be the face of Collision, it was going to debut in Chicago, Illinois, Punk’s hometown. But recently they announced the location was to be determined. That was until this past episode of AEW Dynamite, where they announced the debut episode will, in fact, take place in Chicago.
During an upfront presentation for Warner Bros Discovery, Chairman and Chief Content Officer, Kathleen Finch, announced the news. Collision will be AEW’s third weekly show and will feature some big names, such as Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, Miro and Thunder Rosa, among others.
There are very few wrestlers who are so closely tied to their hometown more than CM Punk and Chicago. In the wrestling world, if you think of Chicago, you think Punk. For years, when CM Punk stepped away, every show that was held in Chicago fans chanted his name.
Every wrestling show that was held in Chicago had fans and journalists speculating whether or not CM Punk would return. Well, CM Punk did return to wrestling in Chicago for AEW, but will he return to his hometown once again?
With the recent reports that CM Punk and AEW have mended their relationship, you can’t help but assume he will appear on the show. Plus there are reports that Punk will be at Collision. So it seems highly likely that the hometown hero will be at the debut episode of AEW Collision. But it’s also worth keeping in mind that he suffered a major injury at All Out. So while he may not wrestle on the show, his presence will be more than enough.
