AEW Battle Of The Belts III Preview: First-Ever Dream Match

AEW Battle of the Belts is a unique event where every match is a title match. So there is always a lot on the line and titles can change hands in the blink of an eye. This is the third Battle of the Belts event, with all of them taking place in 2022. The event is only an hour long and features three matches. Here’s a preview of every match on the card.

TNT Championship Match

Jay Lethal vs Wardlow (c)

Wardlow has been a fighting champion ever since he won the TNT title. He is trying to bring back the immense respect the TNT tile once had. One of his defenses came against Orange Cassidy. Wardlow retained his title, but he was impressed by Cassidy in the process. The two shook hands as a sign of respect. Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, and Sonjay Dutt have had their issues with the Best Friends over the past couple of months.

The two groups finally clashed in a trios match where the best friends won, but Dutt, Lethal, and Singh attacked them after the match. So Wardlow came out to fend them off, and they retreated. Dutt challenged Wardlow on the behalf of Lethal to a match for the TNT title. Lethal is a professional wrestling veteran who has held countless titles across numerous promotions. This is going to be Wardlow’s most challenging test to date.

AEW Women’s Championship Match

Jamie Hayter vs Thunder Rosa (c)

Thunder Rosa has been having a great run as women’s world champion. She has beaten some of the biggest names in the company. Rosa faces off against a difficult challenger in Jamie Hayter. Hayter and Britt Baker beat Toni Storm and Thunder Rosa in a tag team match on AEW Dynamite this week. That is what earned her a shot at the title. Hayter is often overlooked and undervalued, especially since she has aligned herself with Britt Baker. Hayter put on a strong performance this week and opened a lot of fans’ eyes to her. She has all the skills to be a major threat to Rosa and her title. Rosa cannot underestimate Hayter, or she will be in serious trouble.

ROH World Championship Match

Konosuke Takeshita vs Claudio Castagnoli (c) (of Blackpool Combat Club)

Claudio Castagnoli has had a strong start since joining AEW. He has yet to lose a match and defeated Jonathan Gresham to become the new ROH World Champion. His first title defense comes against Konosuke Takeshita. Takeshita has wrestled on AEW before, but mostly wrestles in DDT. He is a young prospect who a lot of people are extremely high on. He has a bright future and is definitely going to become a world champion sooner rather than later. This is a match many fans never even thought they could get, but here we are. Claudio has a chance to show the world that he is world championship material, while Takeshita has an opportunity to shock the world and become the new ROH World Champion.
