Adin Hill on breakout postseason: ‘Most fun I’ve ever had playing hockey’

The Las Vegas Golden Knights have been on fire this postseason, much thanks to goaltender Adin Hill stepping up. During their run to the Stanley Cup Final, Hill says that it’s the most fun he’s ever had playing hockey.

“It’s probably been the most fun I’ve ever had playing hockey,” Hill said after Monday’s Game 2 victory, according to Vince Sapienza of FOX5 Las Vegas. “Just enjoying it, cherishing every day. … It’s been awesome being part of this journey with this team.”

Shortly after Laurent Brossoit got injured in Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers in the second round, Hill quickly took the spot and hasn’t looked back.

The 27-year-old has been on fire and has elevated himself into the Conn Smythe Trophy conversation. Since taking over for Brossoit, Hill has a record of 9-3 with a save percentage of .937 with two shutouts.

Outside of stats, Hill has produced many moments already in his Stanley Cup Final debut. Two highlights include a desperation paddle save and a scrum with Florida star Matthew Tkachuk.

“Staying calm and neutral is good, but if guys are coming to the net and stuff, you have to stand your own ground,” Hill said. “It shows your ‘D’ that they don’t always have to do it for you. I like our team all year, we’ve been disciplined, but we stand up for each other.”

On the season, Hill finished 16-7-1 with a save percentage of .915. This season, Hill holds a career-high in games started after being traded from the Sharks in August. He is set to become a free agent this offseason.
