Adam Silver Needs To Step In And Put An End To Super Teams

Adam Silver has been consistently been trying to the league better since he took the NBA commissioner job in 2014.

One of the most successful decisions that Adam Silver had was pausing the NBA season due to COVID-19. The idea of the NBA bubble in Orlando was better than anyone thought. Silver is more of a player’s commissioner, where he has the respect of the players. He listens to the players, which can be good. But, that’s his biggest downfall, the players have too much control and we’ve seen it this year with players sitting out until they got traded.

The biggest example of a player having too much control this season is James Harden. He was not playing to the best of his ability while in Houston and he had demanded a trade. He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

If Adam Silver really wants to make the league better then he needs to step in and put a stop to super teams.

A Superteam is when you have three or more Hall of Fame-caliber players in their prime on the same team. A few most recent super teams that we have seen have been the 2011- 2014 Miami Heat, 2014- 2019 Golden State Warriors. In 2019, Kevin Durant left the Warriors to team up with Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan in Brooklyn. Jordan is a borderline hall of fame. But this season, the Nets have added James Harden, Blake Griffin, and LaMarcus Aldridge. Now obviously you have the big 3 in Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. Those three will be Hall of Famers. When it comes to the other three, they have had a borderline hall of fame careers.

It’s time for the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to put an end to this. The former NBA Commissioner David Stern endorsed Silver himself. Stern was the one who blocked the trade of Chris Paul (CP3) to the Lakers, where he would have teamed up with Kobe Bryant.

The Superteams make it hard for teams with one star players like the Milwaukee Bucks, the Denver Nuggets, and the Phoenix Suns (prior to this year) to win a championship. Super teams are hurting the culture of the league, and they need to stop quick.

There needs to be more of a balance in the NBA.
