NFL Preseason is Worthless For Fans

Football is finally back! …Well sort of. It’s the dreaded time of the year when football is back, but it doesn’t mean anything, NFL Preseason. Honestly, I hate these 4 weeks, it is just a tease of having football but it’s not. My question is, why the hell do we even have it advertised? Before everyone says, “Oh I want to see the backups,” or “Who cares? It’s football!” Why in the f*ck would you want to watch back-ups play? This isn’t football, it’s glorified scrimmages. In the aspect for NFL franchises, this time is extremely important because of course injuries happen and whatnot, so backups are key to success. But there’s absolutely no reason to advertise it, other than money of course.

Not to mention, there’s always the dumbass fans that take NFL preseason seriously and think it reflects how their actual season will go (Looking at you, Cowboys fans). News Flash dumbo, it doesn’t mean shit. In fact, the two teams that went 0-16 in the regular season, 2008 Lions and 2017 Browns, went 4-0 in the preseason. To add to the ignorant hype around preseason games, people also take player performances seriously (Daniel Jones anyone?). When often, they’re playing against 2nd string and 3rd string defenses.

College football doesn’t have any preseason games, do they have scrimmages? Absolutely. Are these important? Unequivocally. But they don’t advertise it, they don’t show the games, and shocker, most college fans do not care! We go to the NFL and have FOUR weeks of this? No, I rather have no football and just wait till regular season than watch this and see the exact same hype, overreactions, and blasphemy, that NFL fans have year after year, when this is only important for the franchises themselves. Shorten the NFL Preseason, or not have it at all, I don’t care. I won’t be watching because it’s useless to me.
