Donald Trump celebrates PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger
Donald Trump has thrown his two cents into the monumental merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. The former President released a celebratory post on his Truth Social online platform.
Trump went as far as calling it a, “big, beautiful, and glamorous deal for the wonderful world of golf” while congratulating all of the parties involved. It’s worth noting that the former “Apprentice” host even predicted the merger nearly a year ago.
In July of 2022, Trump said the following on Truth Social:
“All those golfers who remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER with LIV comes, and you get nothing but a big ‘thank you’ from PGA officials who are making Millions of Dollars a year. If you don’t take the money now, you will get nothing after the merger takes place, and only say how smart the original signees were. Good luck to all, and congratulations to the really talented Cam Smith on his incredible WIN!”

At face value, Trump will also probably stand to gain something as a result. His golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey has already hosted two tournaments for LIV Golf. As well, it was slated to be the site of the 2021 PGA Championship before the January 6th riots prompted the PGA of America to change locations.
It wouldn’t be crazy to assume that a pro event of some kind will return to Bedminster in the near future. Trump also has courses in Miami, the Bronx, outside of Washington D.C. and in Scotland. Those who are splitting hairs may even consider how his involvement with professional golf could impact his candidacy for the 2024 Presidential Election.
What’s Next?
With the news being made official today, millions are already speculating about what the future of golf will look like. Putting water under the bridge and ending hostility between PGA and LIV is not a bad thing for the sport.
However, every decision made from here on out will be in the headlines. Obviously, Donald Trump will more than likely have something to say about it as well.
It’s safe to say that there’s at least one fan of the news today, and it’s a pretty big one. Trump showed his stance as a cheerleader for the new deal between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
