Kyrie Irving Fires Agent Jeff Wechsler Weeks Before Free Agency

We are just weeks before free agency. I really don’t want to hear another word about it until the NBA Finals are over but we have some news today. Kyrie Irving is one of the big fishes out on the market this summer. He made an interesting move firing his long time agent Jeff Wechsler. Irving will now be represented by Roc Nation.

Does this have any impact on Irving’s free agency? Maybe. Jay Z is the figure head of Roc Nation. Jay Z has some ties to the Nets organization. Does that mean Irving is Brooklyn bound? These things change so often that I’m not even going to begin to speculate. A Kevin Durant injury changed everything so who knows. I don’t know where Irving is going to sign with but it will fuel the Nets rumors.

If Irving does sign with the Nets (that’s the current rumor, it could change in 5 minutes) it would have an interesting ripple effect. I would have to think that D’Angelo Russell if let go. The Nets do have two max slots but I can’t see Irving and Russell playing together. It will be fascinating to see what other max player the Nets can recruit.

Kyrie is a curious dude. He feels like a guy that changes his mind every 5 minutes. I’m not going to say any team is out. That’s why predicting free agency every single day is a waste of time. The Ringer just wrote an awesome piece about how Stephen A Smith has reported 8 different locations for Kyrie as fact. It’s beyond annoying.
