Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2019 NFL Draft War Room

2019 NFL Draft

2019 NFL Draft
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went defense last year with Vita Vea. Should they be thinking the same during the 2019 NFL Draft? Let’s go to the war room (Matthew Emmons/USA TODAY Sports)

This one I’m excited about. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have talent. They just weren’t well organized. Now they should be with Bruce Arians. Tampa has a chance to land a franchise altering player with a top 5 pick on what is already a strong roster. The 2019 NFL Draft is an important one for the Bucs. Let’s head inside the war room to see what they might do.

First Round (Pick 5) – Best defender on the board here. Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen, Devin White, Ed Oliver, etc. Whoever the Bucs like on defense, that’s the guy. The good news is they will get one of them for certain. Simple as that really.

Second Round (Pick 39) – I like offensive line here. The Bucs need a lot of work with the offensive line. At the top of round 2, Chris Lindstrom of Boston College may be the guy. He had a really awesome Senior Bowl and should be a starter at guard for 10 years. Any position on the offensive line can really be addressed. Ryan Jensen at center sucks. Disastrous free agent signing. They could go with Garrett Bradbury instead.

Third Round (Pick 70) – If the Bucs don’t get a defensive tackle in the first round, Chris Slayton from Syracuse could be the pick. There have been rumors that Gerald McCoy isn’t going to be on this roster much longer. Slayton next to Vita Vea sounds like a plan for the future. Slayton was an under the radar guy at the East-West game. I think defensive tackle somewhere in this range makes sense.

The Bucs could also use a running back later. Ronald Jones flopped as a rookie. The hope is he develops. Peyton Barber is the definition of average. A game changing back really takes this offense to the stratosphere. Bryce Love may be available at the top of round 4.
