Weird shit happens in spring training. It’s like a back to school day for college kids who did nothing but
The Mets are going to help Nimmo learn how to cook. I’m super impressed.
“I guess he cooked some chicken and didn’t know how to cook or something,” manager Mickey Callaway said. “He was throwing up all night. So, we’re going to have to teach him how to cook so he doesn’t miss any more games.”
I can’t decide if this is a typical Mets move or not. Met fans have this innate sense of doom constantly. Having Nimmo pull this move is classic Mets by itself. On the other hand, the old Mets would have not tried to teach Nimmo how to cook. Their solution would have been to order more McDonald’s or something along those lines.
My question is, how are the Mets going to teach him how to cook. Does he not know how to preheat the oven? Is there a recipe book involved? Will the Mets go safety first and make sure Nimmo isn’t burning houses down next? Cooking in New York City also isn’t the easiest thing. I guess there are more grocery stores in Queens?
Nimmo was actually one of the best surprises for the Mets a year ago. Nimmo, 25, hit .263 with a .404 on-base percentage and 17 home runs. The pressure is on in New York. The GM already thinks they are the favorites to win the division and Nimmo is a part of that.
