Deandre Baker Calls Himself The Best Corner To Do It Since Deion Sanders

The 2019 NFL Draft is getting closer and closer and narratives always start popping up this time of year. The media and scouts always overreact to comments by players and it’s so hilarious. This time we have Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker coming in hot with fire confidence.

Baker called himself the best cornerback to play the position since Deion Sanders: WOW! The rest of the interview comes our way via NFL.com

“I watch Deion [Sanders on film] because he was the best to do it before me. His ball skills [set him apart]. “

I am a big fan of Baker. He’s an awesome corner. I will say that I’m not going to bet against him. The former Bulldog cornerback gave up one touchdown during his entire collegiate career. That’s pretty insane. I saw Baker play on numerous occasions. He was awesome against South Carolina taking back a pick six and limiting stud wide out Deebo Samuel to a next to nothing game.

Baker has some questions that I want answers to coming up at the combine. How fast is he? I see a guy who is really physical and plays the ball very well. How fast is he? Can he shadow a guy like Tyreek Hill and have success? I’m not sure if he is a real burner. Baker has decent size at 5-foot-11, 185, so speed is going to factor into his draft stock.

“Every part of the [NFL Scouting] Combine, [I want to] be the best at each drill. I don’t want to put a number out there [for the 40-yard dash] just yet. I don’t want to scare nobody. Just watch and see”

I found it interesting that Baker also called Calvin Ridley the best receiver he ever went up against. Ridley was a big hit for the Falcons this year and now his brother, Riley is heading to the NFL Draft. Riley isn’t as hyped up but he’s pretty talented too.
