Brock Osweiler is back to his old stomping grounds. The team that originally drafted Osweiler in the 2nd round back in 2012 has decided to reunite with him. The Denver Broncos have signed the 26-year-old quarterback to a one-year deal with the minimum. With Paxton Lynch on the shelf for a few weeks, Osweiler steps in immediately as the backup quarterback.

Adam Schefter of ESPN had the deal when it became official:

The Browns still owe him $16 million after executing the trade with the Texans. It is the final year of that pact where every penny is guaranteed. Denver now will pay him the minimum. John Elway, the Broncos president, now looks like a genius after he opted to not pay Osweiler the $72 million contract Houston ended up giving him. Osweiler clearly wasn’t the heir apparent to Peyton Manning.

Trevor Siemian will get the nod on opening day with the team. The good news for the new backup quarterback is Mike McCoy is back as offensive coordinator who coached Osweiler in his previous Denver stint
