New York Jets 2018 NFL Draft War Room

The New York Jets have a chance to turn their franchise around in an hour. The Jets have been the lovable losers in New York while the Giants dominate the headlines. However, we have an interesting turn of events where both teams in New York stink. The Giants could pass or take a quarterback in front of the Jets but there’s no doubt the Jets are thinking signal caller. Hit and the Jets could be the new talk of the town. Miss and the Jets will continue to be the laughing stock of New York. What can we expect from the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft?

Let’s put on our thinking caps here. There are four consensus top quarterbacks. Okay, got it. The Jets wanted to move up from 6 to 3. Okay, got it. If quarterbacks go 1,2,3…the Jets are guaranteed to get their guy? Well, why move up unless their guy is Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is the consensus fourth guy and the Jets moved up for a reason. You have to think Mayfield is the pick because why move up for a quarterback that might not be there. This would be a draft day deal if it was contingent on the quarterback being there. Mayfield is virtually a lock to be there at 3. Did we solve the mystery?

2018 NFL Draft Quarterback Rankings

New York traded three second-round picks to move up to the third pick. In the third round, linebacker should be an area to watch. Derron Lee hasn’t panned out like the second coming of Ryan Shazier. New York needs a leader in the middle of the field that they haven’t had since Jonathan Vilma. Jack Cichy could wind up being a late-round bargain. He would have gone much higher but he tore his ACL prior to the start of the season. The Wisconsin linebacker came in with a lot of buzz but will drop because of the injury. For a team that traded away picks and isn’t ready to win right away, Cichy makes a lot of sense.
