Lions Sign Head Coach Jim Caldwell To Multi-Year Deal

Apparently, Jim Caldwell signed a contract extension months ago, it just so happened to be reported by the media months later. The Lions are off to a 2-0 start to their season as their head coach was rewarded with a contract extension. Well, at least knowledge of the extension took place following the 2-0 start. Since 2014 when Caldwell joined the Lions, he has a record of 29-21.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the (old) news:

Caldwell has made the playoffs twice in his Lions tenure which likely earned the extension. Caldwell led the Lions to a playoff trip a year ago but has failed to win a playoff game in Detroit. The best Caldwell was in Indy when Peyton Manning was at the helm to a Super Bowl win. The Lions now have their core in place after paying Matthew Stafford a mega-contract.
