Adam Thielen signs a three-year deal with Panthers

After spending his full career with the Minnesota Vikings, Adam Thielen has now found a new home with the Carolina Panthers. The 32-year-old receiver agreed to a three-year deal with the Panthers, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Thielen’s contract details with the Panthers:

After a long-time term with the Minnesota Vikings, they sadly decided to let Thielen walk. His new deal will be a three-year deal for $25 million. His contract will contain $14 million guaranteed, averaging $8.3 million per season. The Mankato State Maverick will be catching balls alongside Terrace Marshall Jr and Laviska Shenault Jr. Thielen will add some much needed leadership to a young and upcoming Panthers team, as Carolina will probably select a QB with the No. 1 overall pick.

Background of Thielen and time in Minnesota:

In his time in Minnesota, Thielen became a fan favorite for the Vikings. The hometown kid, born and raised in Minnesota, quickly rose to stardom. After being undrafted in 2013, Thielen attended a rookie tryout where he signed an entry-level contract before being cut in final roster cuts. He would go on to sign for the practice squad as a rookie and explode in preseason. Before his breakout in 2016, Thielen didn’t receive many critical snaps for the Vikings.

In 2016, Thielen broke out of his shell. He finished only 33 yards short of a 1,000-yard season. He followed up by accumulating nearly 2,700 combined receiving yards over the next two seasons, plunging the undrafted receiver into stardom. Thielen would later on slowly decrease in production as the Vikings drafted star receivers — Justin Jefferson and Stefon Diggs — around him.

As said before, Thielen will become a leader for the young Panthers’ roster for the next three years. He will look to turn back the clock to 2018 and produce a great season for the Panthers.
