Allen Lazard Is Breathing A Sigh Of Relief

Allen Lazard is probably enjoying life pretty good right now. The newest Jets receiver will still be catching passes from a familiar face. The 27-year-old is very happy that Aaron Rodgers will remain his quarterback, but this time in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He claimed that they weren’t planning on joining the Jets together. He was the first domino to fall after signing a four-year deal. Rodgers confirming his desire to play in New York sealed the deal. Despite joining a very crowded receiver room, the former Iowa State man is fully focused on the upcoming season.

Things finally started coming together in Year 5 for Lazard. Stepping up in the place of Davante Adams, he set career highs in receptions, yards, and yards per game. Despite catching eight touchdowns in 2021, he still caught a respectable six in 2022. He is definitely going to face some stiff competition on the Jets sideline in 2023. Along with Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, they also feature Denzel Mims and Corey Davis. CJ Uzomah is also a quality pass-catcher at tight end. While Gang Green may be in for some growing pains with Aaron Rodgers under center, the former MVP will have no shortage of options to throw it to.

Meant To Be?

Lazard also made the point that he probably wouldn’t have been in line for a nice payday without A-Rod. As well, it’s also known that the pair work out together in California during the offseason. Obviously, we saw Rodgers’ upset response to rumors of his “wishlist” to the Jets. Still, it is a weird coincidence to say the least. The focus now is on the Jets and Packers now agreeing on compensation to send the four-time MVP to the AFC East.

Once again, it’s gonna be Aaron Rodgers throwing passes to Allen Lazard. And yes, they will be wearing green sweaters. If I had to wager, they both are probably pretty happy that that’s the case.
