Rockstar Games Pays Tribute to ‘GTA Vice City’s’ Tom Sizemore After Tragic Passing
On Friday, March 3, actor Tom Sizemore passed away at age 61. Sizemore, best known for his roles in movies like Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down and Heat, was also an actor in video games, specifically in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Following his passing, the game studio decided to honor him and his performances over Twitter Saturday.

Sizemore’s role was as Sonny Forelli in Vice City is considered not just one of the best performances in that title, but one of the best performances in the GTA franchise. While this was his only notable role within gaming, Sizemore certainly left his mark on not just the game but the GTA community itself.

Sizemore started his career in acting back in 1989 in both the film Lock Up and the short-lived TV series Gideon Oliver. But Sizemore’s career really took off in the 1990s, specifically with Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan. From then on Sizemore’s roles would become more prominent.
However, by the early 2000s, his career had begun to crater. Headlines of drug usage and domestic abuse tanked his reputation.
Still, the amount of support he and his family have received since his stroke on Feb. 19, has been substantial. It doesn’t seem like people care about the bad things he did nearly 20 years ago right now. But are more invested in the works he helped create. Despite his sins, Tom Sizemore should be remembered for the good he did, whether they be on the movie screen or in the realm of video games.
