Before ejection from the game, Rangers defenseman K’Andre Miller spat on Drew Doughty

For the past 24 hours, the hockey world has been blowing up, but not for a crazy highlight. It has been the feud between K’Andre Miller and Drew Doughty. In their recent game, Miller spat on Doughty, but Miller claims it was accidental, according to ESPN.

Miller decided to take his hands to Twitter on Monday to share his view on what happened in his feud with Doughty. Before he was given an automatic game or match penalty, resulting in Miller being ejected from the ice.

On Twitter, Miller wrote his condolences to Doughty about the incident.

“I have all the respect in the world for Drew Doughty and what happened was completely accidental,” Miller said on Twitter. “I would never intend to do something like that on purpose. It goes against everything I am as a person and player. I felt awful about it and I am thankful Drew gave me the opportunity to apologize and explain myself in person after the game.”

The Rangers would go onto beat the Los Angeles Kings in a score of 5-2. After the game, the recipient of Miller’s spit, Doughty, made comments on the situation.

“I don’t even know if I said anything to him after, but I just immediately went to the ref to try to get the penalty,” Doughty said, via ESPN. “But you don’t want to see things like that in this game, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that. I’m sure it has happened, but not that I’ve seen.

By rule, Miller’s match penalty automatically faces a hearing from the NHL. No further suspension has been placed on Miller at this time.
