Blackhawks legend Patrick Kane has been traded to the New York Rangers
The Patrick Kane chaos has been finally silenced. Chicago has let go of their former superstar in a deal with the New York Rangers.
Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff was the first to report the news:
For the veteran forward, the Blackhawks will receive a 2023 conditional second-round pick and a fourth round pick. The 2023 second-round pick will become a first-round pick if the Rangers win two rounds in the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs. That first-round pick will then be moved to either 2024 or 2025. Kane is set to become a free agent this offseason after an eight-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. His contract is worth $84 million. Kane is currently making an average annual salary of $2.9 million this season with a cap hit of $10.5 million.
On the season, the superstar forward has 45 points in 54 games with 16 goals and 29 assists. Kane will join former central division star Vladimir Tarasenko who was recently traded to the Blue Shirts. Patrick Kane will make his possible New York Rangers debut on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Rangers currently stand third in the Metropolitan division with 77 points. They’re only behind their rival New Jersey Devils who have 83 points and the Carolina Hurricanes with 86. With Kane being added to the Rangers, this will certainly boost their chances of climbing up the standings in the powerful Eastern conference. In their last 10 games, the Rangers have been mediocre at best. With a 6-4 record, the Rangers will look to build some momentum with Kane in a hopeful Stanley Cup run.
