Utah state Senator Nate Blouin was not too happy with O’Neal and Barkley’s comments on the state
During NBA All-Star weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah, NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley were not the biggest fans of the host city, leading to remarks from Utah state Sen. Nate Blouin.
The NBA hosted their yearly All-Star events in Salt Lake City in 2023. Team Giannis defeated Team LeBron 184-175 with a game-ending three from Damian Lillard. Team Giannis was backed behind All-Star MVP Jayson Tatum, who dropping a record 55 points in the game. Safe to say, there was plenty of action on the court, but for O’Neal and Barkley in Salt Lake City, there wasn’t a lick of it.
“These people are going to heaven,” Barkley said during the game’s broadcast, via Dime. “Ain’t nothing to do in this boring ass city.”
O’Neal seemed to agree with Barkley’s comment on Utah and Salt Lake City.
“I never ate so much room service in my life.” O’Neal said.
“Can’t smoke, can’t drink,” Barkley added. “These people are going to heaven.”
These comments on Blouin’s city seemed to upset him. He would go onto reply to Barkley and O’Neal on his Twitter account.
“Super disappointing take. Do better @SHAQ and Charles! Bet y’all were just cooped up in the all star VIP areas and didn’t even get into the city, and are just perpetuating a reputation we’re working hard to change,” Blouin said on his Twitter.
As of right now, the two NBA legends in O’Neal and Barkley are yet to take another bite at Blouin. I’m sure this feud is not yet over between the three guys.
