Carson Wentz: Knee Injury ‘Won’t Change’ Play Style

Slide Carson, slide! That’s what a lot of Eagles fans are going to be screaming at their TV’s next year. Wentz’s season ended prematurely in 2017 when he tore his ACL against the Rams late in the season. Many thought that Wentz’s injury would end Philadelphia’s season but that didn’t happen. Philadelphia won the Super Bowl on the heels of an unreal performance by Nick Foles.

There’s still no question that Wentz is the franchise but he needs to protect himself better. Oddly enough, Wentz doesn’t really agree with that sentiment. Wentz claims he isn’t going to change his play style when he is healthy enough to suit up again in 2018.

“I definitely won’t change, so to speak. That has what made me successful this last season and my whole career,” Wentz said via Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ Advance Media. “It is something I’ve learned since coming into the league — how to protect myself … I am not going to let this change me.”

Wentz got hurt diving for the end zone in December getting rocked by Mark Barron which caused the injury. Wentz not only tore his ACL but his MCL as well. The North Dakota State product has been rehabbing to make sure that he is ready for the 2018 season opener. Staying healthy will be key for Wentz moving forward because he was probably robbed of a Season and Super Bowl MVP Award.

“That is definitely my goal,” Wentz said “Timetables and all those things are always such a fluid thing. Obviously can’t come out and make a declaration on anything, but my goal is to be playing in Week 1.”

Wentz finished the 2017 season with a mark of 60.2 completion percentage, 33 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions in just his second-year in the league.
