SaRodorick Thompson 2023 NFL Draft Profile

SaRodorick Thompson was a 5th-year senior from Texas Tech, who was a 3-star recruit out of high school, per 247Sports. Here is his NFL Draft Profile!

SaRodorick Thompson spent his entire career at Texas Tech, where he had a great career. Most of his production came after his freshman season. In his four succeeding seasons, he played at least 10 games each year and maintained at least a 4.4 yards per carry average per year. His sophomore year was his best, in terms of production. He ran for 763 yards on 4.8 YPC, 12 touchdowns and 38 receptions for 152 receiving yards. In everything other than YPC, these were career totals for him at Texas Tech.

SaRodorick Thompson has great size at 6-foot, and about 215 pounds. He lacks a little bit of weight in his legs but looks big in his upper body. He doesn’t have killer speed, but looks quick for his size. Thomas doesn’t have a lot of wiggle, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t fluid. He bends very well while running to elude defenders. He’ll break tackles that way, while still trying to get any yards that he can. Tough runner and looks natural while doing it. If he’s not bending, he’s trying to run you over. Very patient behind the line, and has his head on a swivel looking for open gaps. Great vision.

As mentioned before, does lack a little bit of weight in his legs for his size. Lack of wiggle could be a problem. He is proficient in the passing game, but doesn’t run a lot of routes. The biggest knack of SaRodorick Thompson could be his ball security. He had eight career fumbles at Texas Tech, including three during his sophomore year and two each during his junior and 5th-year senior season. This has to be addressed.

Other than that, I think SaRodorick Thompson could be a solid prospect. I think he makes an NFL team, unless the fumbles are so egregious that it ultimately becomes his downfall. He has to hit the weights more on his legs to solidify his look as a running back. The official prediction for me is a UDFA gem for this NFL Draft profile, though Thompson could be drafted though in the 7th or late in the 6th round.
