Out of all the teams in the NHL, I think the Arizona Coyotes deserve the future superstar Connor Bedard.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why do the Coyotes deserve him? Why not the Blackhawks, Blue Jackets or Ducks? They’re all worse than the Coyotes this year. I’m going to give three reasons why the Coyotes deserve the future star that is Connor Bedard.
Throughout the past few years, the Arizona Coyotes have been through hell. They have had ownership troubles, arena nightmares, and even attendance issues.
Currently, the Coyotes play at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona, which is a part of the Arizona State hockey team. They partnered with the Sun Devils to play there until 2025. Also, the Coyotes have ranked almost last in average percent of arena filled for the past 10 years. The only exception for this is this year because the capacity of Mullett Arena is 4,600 fans.
If Bedard heads to the Coyotes, he can change the environment in Arizona.
In the 2015 NHL Draft, the Coyotes got the short end of the stick. Arizona was expected to pick second overall in the draft and the Edmonton Oilers jumped them and the Sabres for the first overall pick. That pick went on to be Connor McDavid, then Jack Eichel. Arizona selected Dylan Strome, who didn’t pan out for them, and the Mitch Marner went fourth to the Maple Leafs. If the Oilers never jumped to one, the Coyotes could’ve had Eichel and a winning franchise.
As I mentioned before, the Coyotes have had attendance troubles. With that being said, a superstar like Bedard can fill the arena to the max. He can bring back hockey in the Grand Canyon state. Arizona is the ninth fastest growing state in the US since 2010 and they’re only getting larger. Put Bedard in Arizona and you got a new hub for hockey.
Overall, I think Arizona deserves Connor Bedard the most out of anyone in the league based on the hell they’ve been through. I hope he can bring back the life of hockey in the desert.
