There has been a wild internet rumor out there that Marvin Harrison Jr. could be transferring to USC for the 2023 college football season. Everything you see on the internet is also true, right? Can you imagine how electric it would be to see Caleb Williams throwing the ball to Harrison next year?
Appearing on The Roosters Report this week, Jeremy Birmingham of Rivals.com revealed that he spoke to Harrison recently. The son of the former great Colts wide receiver gave a very candid answer about the rumors.
“I did ask Marvin Harrison a very important question,” Birmingham said. “I asked him when he’s packing his stuff to transfer to USC. And he said, and I quote, ‘Where the [bleep] do they come up with this stuff?'”
Then again, maybe Birmingham doesn’t know that Harrison is lying to him. You never know in the NIL world and if Ohio State lost Dylan Raiola, then anything is possible. This NIL space along with the transfer portal is brand new so we have no idea what to really expect moving forward. Maybe it’s Harrison. Maybe it’s someone else. Regardless, the college football hot stove is just getting started.
Keep this in mind too. USC basically bought Jordan Addison a year ago. Why can’t it happen this year with Harrison or maybe even another prolific receiver like Xavier Worthy? USC already added Marshawn Lloyd today in the portal. I’m quite sure Lincoln Riley isn’t done shopping either.
Until we hear otherwise, there is no reason to assume Harrison is going to leave Ohio State early. What we do know is that he will be the first wide receiver taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. That much is about as certain as it gets.
