Joe Rogan Tells Dave Portnoy Paddy Pimblett Lost at UFC 282

The latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience saw Joe Rogan sit down for a conversation with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. However, Rogan had to hit Portnoy with the tough truth that Paddy Pimbett, who Barstool Sports sponsors, lost his fight against Jared Gordon at UFC 282 despite earning a decision victory.

“I saw you, by the way, roll your eyes when Paddy won,” Portnoy told Rogan on JRE.

“Shouldn’t have won,” Rogan said.

“I thought it was a close decision,” Portnoy said.

“Eh, I thought Jared won,” Rogan said. “I thought Jared Gordon won that fight. But, it was a good fight. It certainly wasn’t a blowout. It wasn’t one of those fights where there is no F—–g way- it was a close fight.”

For those that did not watch UFC 282, it was pretty clear that Gordon should have won the decision. The judges sitting cage side saw something that the fans did not. However, Portnoy was a little behind the eight ball in learning the reality of the situation.

You cannot fault Portnoy too much here. In fairness to him, I don’t think that he has ever claimed to be an MMA exert. Maybe he just needs a little guidance to help grow his knowledge of the sport.

Plus, it would be counter-productive for Portnoy to come out and say that Pimblett lost. If you are sponsoring a fighter there is no reason to come out and loudly criticize them over a judge’s decision.

Despite Barstool’s support, Pimblett’s stock has certainly taken a dip after UFC 282. As Rogan said, he should not have gotten his hand raised against Gordon. On top of that, Pimblett’s arrogance has rubbed some people the wrong way. UFC commentator and fellow Englishman Michael Bisping even went out of the way to tell Pimblett he needs to humble himself.

Still, Pimblett is getting support from Barstool Sports and has a large fanbase.

The only thing that Rogan did not tell Portnoy was that Pimblett is the most overrated fighter in the UFC. Portnoy will learn one day though. But, he can ride the wave while the Pimblett hype train is still alive.
