Is Rico Bosco Crazy For Leaving Barstool?

The grass isn’t always greener. The protection is now gone. Is Rico Bosco going to regret his decision for leaving Barstool Sports? In what may go down as the final “Rico” centric episode, Dave Portnoy and Big Cat went in on Bosco’s decision to leave Barstool.

I think what was summed up best on the show is the opinion of what Rico is. Do you believe Rico Bosco is a top tier star in sports media industry? If yes, Dave and Big Cat both agree that it was the right call to leave. At this point, Rico was never going to be able to prove that at Barstool. A lot of people can make great content with Portnoy and Big Cat. Can you thrive outside of that environment? That’s what we’re about to find out.

Portnoy made sure to mention the security blanket that he has been providing Rico. We’re talking about a guy that was suspended with pay for a month to do nothing after he threw a water bottle at Big T. That kind of stuff, I can’t imagine he can get away with at Audacy. Especially because we know they are much more cookie cutter than a company like Barstool would be.

Rico is also a notoriously bad gambler. BetQL charges people for picks. What’s going to happen when Rico is -20 units for a week? He’s been dead last on the Pick Em show in the standings for what seems like forever.

Another thing we have to keep track of is the blogging numbers. Dave referenced how it seemed like Rico felt that blogging was beneath him. Rico never wanted to work. He also blocks so many people that would otherwise follow his numbers. Will a company that’s in financial crisis get its money’s worth for a guy that’s not really promoting his stuff to the best of his ability?

It’s going to be very interesting to see how things go at Audacy. It doesn’t exactly seem like his new co-workers are thrilled that he’s coming over. Will things just be okay when Rico attacks co-workers with fake burners? It’s hard to imagine that this isn’t a ticking time bomb. Something drastic with Rico will happen at his new home. It’s just a matter of what it is. The more relevant question of when the Rico bomb hits, will he wind up returning to Barstool?
