Are The Broncos Determined To Fire Nathaniel Hackett?
Nathaniel Hackett is walking the plank. He just might not know it yet or will find out soon.
Here’s a stat for you. If the Broncos averaged 20 points per game, Denver would be 8-2. Crazy, right? Instead, the Broncos are an ugly 3-8 after losing to Carolina this past week.
Yes, Denver’s defense is pretty good. The Russell Wilson trade might go down as a failure but finding him a new play caller to make the offense good enough is going to be the number one thing on their to-do list.
Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post has been told that it’s only a matter of time before Hackett is fired. In fact, Canfora states that it’s going to happen before the end of the season. Denver apparently wants to give Ejiro Evero a chance to run the show.

“If the Broncos fire overwhelmed rookie head coach Nathanial Hackett before the season ends — the execs I speak to regularly believe it is quite likely — it would make sense to promote defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in his stead, with an eye to making him the permanent replacement. “He’s a rock star,” said one longtime NFL exec who has been a part of multiple successful coaching hires. Evero has vast experience on both sides of the ball and studied under longtime defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, whose coaching tree continues to spawn more branches.”
Kevin O’Connell and Dan Quinn were finalists for the Broncos job a year ago. Quinn is technically still on the board since he remains the defensive coordinator with Dallas. However, you would have to think with all of the resources poured into Russell Wilson, you would have to think an offensive mind will be the successor here.
