Sean Payton Confirms Desire To Return To Coaching
We haven’t seen the last of Sean Payton. He’s just going to be picky this time for his next job because he’s earned the ability to say no to whoever he wants. Payton told NewOrleans.Football that he would return to coaching but only if it’s the right job for him.
“If the right situation presented itself, I would definitely be interested. And there’s no utopia, if you will, when it comes to teams, but if I felt like it was the right situation, I would have an interest in that. That all being said, that could come in a year, that could come in two years,” Payton said.
“There’s a handful of teams that aren’t, and those teams, regardless of what takes place, they can win on Sunday but they have trouble winning long term,” Payton said.
“This past weekend’s game vs. Tampa was the first time I had a version of FOMO. I was jealous of everyone that was there, including random Bruce Arians on the sideline,” Payton said.
Here. We. Go.
Sean Payton has been a media machine making multiple appearances on Colin Cowherd’s show. He used that FOMO during his last appearance on The Herd. If you haven’t seen those interviews, I encourage you to do so despite the fact that I’ve said many negative things about Cowherd in the past. Don’t worry, Payton is worth the air time alone.
Of course, those Cowboys rumors are always going to be there. It’s also hard to pick a landing spot this early into the season. Payton at least should wait for that right opportunity where he can pair himself with a quarterback that he likes. At this point, that has to be the only move.
