Today is the day. I’ve been planning this day for a long time. The 2022 NFL Season opens up with a matchup between the Bills and Rams. Make no mistake about it my friends. Oh, that Cam Akers show is coming. You sorry, sorry fools are about get hit with a lesson. I don’t know if anybody is ready.
I’m all in on the Cam Akers show. If you bet on this philosophy you will hit nine times out of ten. The year two-three running back that you believed in college is about to pop and the idiot rankings aren’t smart enough to factor in the production curve.
Don’t talk to me about oh, is he healthy? What about that playoff run? How stupid are you people? Akers suited up for the Rams 5.5 months after tearing his Achilles. I’m sorry but that’s impossible. I would not tear my Achilles and suit up and play football in 5.5 months. It just wouldn’t happen. Don’t talk to me about the 2.6 yards per carry he averaged in the playoffs. That guy is what the kids called “built different”. Oh, the show is coming.
The haters have no idea what’s coming. You see, there is this perception that the Rams are a pass happy team. That’s what the morons will tell you about this imaginary record breaking Kirk Cousins season that’s coming because somehow Kevin O’Connell took the job. The truth of the matter is, the Rams are a run first team that is built on playaction. Their offense is the Shanahan offense except more receiver based. They don’t use Kyle Juszczyk.
I don’t know if you’re aware of this but the starting running back for the Rams is going to do well. Todd Gurley was the single best running back in football for fantasy at one point in time when Sean McVay first got this job. We can talk about how talented Akers is all we want but he was a record-setting five-star recruit for a reason. In high school, that guy was a wildcat quarterback because that’s how good Akers was. No need to have a real quarterback. The ball is just better in his hands with him doing both. Isn’t that insane to you? Oh, they just don’t know what’s coming, do they?
Don’t talk to me about this Darrell Henderson thing. Look, I like Henderson. I did coming out of the draft too. The reality is that Henderson can’t hold a candle to Akers in the talent department. It’s why McVay was so insistent on getting Akers on the field for the Super Bowl. You want your best guys out there when a championship is on the line. Instead, Akers obviously wasn’t ready 5.5 months in to play and the fantasy football rankers decided they were going to be ignorant to reality and hold that against him. Oh, they just don’t get it, do they?
Mark my words. Put this on the board. Cam Akers will be a top-ten running back in fantasy. You’re all about to get tickets to the show.
