WWE Announces Tryouts Ahead of SummerSlam
WWE announced they will be holding tryouts in the days leading up to SummerSlam. Earlier this year, the company held its first-ever tryouts exclusively for former and current college athletes, which was held prior to WrestleMania 38. After that event, they signed 20 former college athletes who started their developmental process in the months before SummerSlam, according to the company.
There are going to be more than 50 former and current college athletes who are going to be trying out for WWE. It is a three-day event spanning from July 27 to July 29 and is being held at the Wildhorse Saloon. The event is invite-only and consists of former and current college athletes who played football, basketball, wrestling, and gymnastics, among other sports. The participants will partake in various training exercises including, individual and group promos, in-ring technical sessions, and sit-down interviews.
The company also announced it will have a day where fans can view the tryout process. For the first time ever, fans will get to see WWE tryouts take place in real-time, right in front of them. Only on July 29, fans can buy tickets and view possible future WWE superstars’ tryouts for the company. An experience like none other.
WWE has numerous former college athletes who made a big impact in their company. The most notable being Brock Lesnar and The Rock, although there have been a high amount of college athletes having success in the company. There seems to be a good bridge between college sports and professional wrestling, so this is a good move by the company. Who knows, maybe we will get the next Roman Reigns out of the tryouts.
