Las Vegas Raiders To Hire Josh McDaniels As New Head Coach
The Las Vegas Raiders are in the process of finalizing a deal to make Josh McDaniels their new head coach, per Ian Rapoport. This would be McDaniels’ second head coaching job as he was former head coach of the Broncos many years ago.
The Raiders are raiding the New England Patriots. First, they are expected to hire de facto general manager Dave Ziegler, and now they’re hiring Josh McDaniels to become their new head coach. After a chaotic Gruden and Mayock era, the McDaniels and Ziegler era is set to begin.
McDaniels has spent a lot of time with the Patriots. He started out as a personnel assistant in 2001, then became a defensive assistant from 2002 to 2003. In 2004 he became their quarterbacks coach and from 2005 to 2008 he was their offensive coordinator. He was head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2009 to 2010, and has a record of 11-17.
After being fired from the Broncos, he went to St. Louis for a year in 2011 to be their offensive coordinator. Finally, he found his way back home to New England and has been their offensive coordinator from 2012 to 2021. Now the Raiders are taking another shot on him and giving him a chance to lead their franchise to the promise land.
Josh McDaniels is getting another chance at a head coaching job after over a decade. For the sake of Raiders fans (looking at you Alex), let’s hope he’s learned a thing or two.
