The Denver Broncos have made a deal with Nathaniel Hackett to take on the responsibilities of head coach, the question is when Hackett goes to Denver, will Aaron Rodgers follow? When I heard the news of Denver’s decision, I immediately had flashbacks to when Payton Manning left the Colts. As we know, Manning by all means was a veteran quarterback who was established in the NFL. To many people, his trade to the Broncos was shocking. Why would the Broncos take a quarterback that was well into his career? Manning headed to Denver at 36 years old. Everyone knew that he was a great quarterback, however, people wondered whether or not his age would affect his playing ability. Needless to say, it most definitely did not.
Now, let’s talk about Rodgers for a minute. The more I look at this, the more similarities I am finding between the two players. Two great quarterbacks, two franchise quarterbacks, same potential outcome. If Rodgers ends up following his OC to Denver I think the whole NFL would catch a serious case of Deja Vu. Denver, once again, would acquire a historical quarterback to lead their team. Now don’t forget, this is all mere speculation, but while we are here let’s compare.
Payton Manning was traded to Denver at age 36. Now, Aaron Rodgers, age 38, could potentially end up in Denver as well. Coincidence? Maybe, or maybe the Bronco’s have a thing for older franchise quarterbacks that are looking for a home. Perhaps Denver is a place where these players can happily enjoy their remaining few years in the NFL. And, if history were to repeat itself, win a super bowl. Of course, like I said this is all just speculation, who knows if Rodgers will land in Denver. However, what I will say, is that if Rodgers does in fact land in Denver, the Packers will be in a world of hurt, and the Broncos may strike gold.
