2020 Record: 6-4

2021 Projected Win Total: 7

On The Field:

*As a fan, I gotta admit that TCU has some of the HARDEST jerseys in the country. The black and purple are so clean. Anyway*

2020 was certainly an up-and-down year for Gary Patterson and his TCU Horned Frogs. There were times where this offense, led by Max Duggan, looked unstoppable. Duggan is a fine enough passer, but his playmaking out of the pocket is what makes him a special talent, leading TCU with 526 rushing yards and 10 TDs last season. It’s not ideal that your QB is your leading rusher, which is something they will need to address this season. The defense should be their bread and butter this season, though. This defensive unit returns 8 starters from a 2020 team that only allowed 351 total yards per game and 24 points per game in the Big-12. The combination Khari Coleman and Ochuan Mathis at the defensive end combined for 12 sacks last season and will look to make even more noise. Having to replace guys like Trevon Moehrig and Ar’Darius Washington will be no easy feat, but having a shutdown corner in Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson certainly is a good starting point.

In The Market:

On the SimBull CFB market, the current shares price for TCU is $43.68. This price seems high for a team that won a mere 6 games last season, but I do think there is a lot to like with this team. Starting the year at 2-1 is great, but those wins are over Duquesne and Cal respectively. The upcoming schedule for TCU is brutal with two of their next three against Texas and Oklahoma. If they can get through week 6 with a 4-2 record, they will be in great shape for the rest of the year. I think TCU can finish the year in the Top-25, so I would say based on that they would be a wise investment to have at least a share or two.
