John Harbaugh: Ravens’ Offense ‘In Much Better Shape’

The Baltimore Ravens ranked 25th in points per game in 2015 (20.5), a mark they are looking to improve into 2016. In 2014 however the Raven offense ranked 8th in points per game (25.6). The biggest difference between the two was an offensive coordinator change from Gary Kubiak in 2014 to Marc Trestman this past season. Head coach John Harbaugh is feeling optimistic about the Trestman offense heading into 2016.

“We’re going to be in much better shape, in terms of building the system … than we were the first year,” Harbaugh said, per the team’s official website. “Now the system is more (Trestman’s) than it was last year. I think it’s more ours than it was last year.”

There is no denying that Trestman’s offensive changes did not work in favor of Joe Flacco as his numbers were on the decline even prior to his season ending ACL injury. The biggest takeaway from the switch from Kubiak was the creativeness in the running game. Justin Forsett and other were used more in passing situations and steered further away from the things that got them to the AFC Title game in 2014. I am expecting a very mediocre offense from Baltimore this season despite what Harbaugh had to say.
